2 Corinthians 3 vs 5 – Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think

American King James Version (AKJV) – Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;

Amplified Bible (AMP) – Not that we are fit (qualified and sufficient in ability) of ourselves to form personal judgments or to claim or count anything as coming from us, but our power and ability and sufficiency are from God.

American Standard Version (ASV) – not that we are sufficient of ourselves, to account anything as from ourselves; but our sufficiency is from God;

Basic Bible English (BBE) – Not as if we were able by ourselves to do anything for which we might take the credit; but our power comes from God;

Common English Bible (CEB) – It isn’t that we ourselves are qualified to claim that anything came from us. No, our qualification is from God.

English Standard Version (ESV) – Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God,

Good News Translation (GNT) – There is nothing in us that allows us to claim that we are capable of doing this work. The capacity we have comes from God;

God’s Word to The Nations (God’s word) – By ourselves we are not qualified in any way to claim that we can do anything. Rather, God makes us qualified.

The Message Bible (MSG) – We wouldn’t think of writing this kind of letter about ourselves. Only God can write such a letter.
